Acutes & First Aid

acutes & first aidAcute Problems
Acute Problems are defined as short-term, self-limited ailments with rapid onset. Self-limited means the problem usually resolves on its own. While acutes are a shorter duration than chronic complaints, they are often more intense. Homeopathic support gives your body the extra boost of healing it needs to get through these acutes faster and with less intensity.

Acute problems can range from colds & flus, diarrhea, fever, sore throats, sports injuries, vomiting/food poisoning, etc. They also include temporary conditions during pregnancy & breastfeeding and common problems of children such as teething and diarrhea and ear infections.

Treatment involves a short interview where you will be asked a series of questions specific to the condition at hand. Prescriptions may involve one or more remedies, may be repeated or changed often and work much more quickly – from minutes to hours – depending upon the situation.

Unlike simple first aid treatments which can be addressed at home after some basic homeopathic education, acute conditions should be discussed with your practitioner. This is particularly important if you are already under constitutional treatment as your remedy may need to be altered or changed.

First Aid
The use of homeopathic remedies can be very effective in the treatment of common accidents requiring first aid such as minor falls, scrapes & bruises, minor burns, minor cuts, bee stings & insect bites and skin irritations such as poison ivy or diaper rash.

When correctly chosen, first aid remedies can act quickly and safely and are great for infants or children because they have no smell or taste!

In opposition to Constitutional Treatment, prescribing for first aid often means using remedies in higher doses which are often repeated more frequently. The energetic nature of trauma to the body is more intense than in its natural state in situations requiring first aid, the energetic nature of body trauma is more intense than in its natural state. Therefore, the effectiveness of the remedy is more short-lived.

If the injury or trauma is remotely serious, do not hesitate to call 911 or your family physician immediately.
